Merry Christmas

Well, Santa, the Big Guy, the Jolly Elf, or whatever you want to call him made his rounds on Christmas Eve and left everyone some presents and we at the Cameron house had a very Merry Christmas. We hope all who read this had a Merry Christmas also. But lets don't forget the reason for the season...our Lord and Savor who came to us on that wonderful night for just one purpose..to save us from our sins...So, on our Christmas Eve dinner w/ Angie's dad, step-mom and stepsister, Kaylee volunteered to say the blessing!!!! This was a wonderful surprise, as Kaylee is not one to speak too much in the limelight right now. And she did a wonderful job. So, Christmas Eve was a great time up there...the food, laughter and visiting those we love so much and that are so close to us

So, then the big day comes and we all have a great time. Angie's mom and step-dad came over like always and it was a great time. We just grazed at snack foods and a ham for food, which was great 'cause we didn't have to worry about cooking a big meal.

Here are the girls getting some great presents from Mammaw and Pappa!!

Christmas Events

Well, we have been busy w/ the Christmas events here in the past few days...Kaylee had her first pre-school Christmas singing and she did great. Then we had the Murray family Christmas party which they asked me to cater...smoked ribs, 'tater casserole, baked beans and bread. Good eats all the way around. And then tonight was Angie's work Christmas party...more good eats.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Well, we hope that all had a great Thanksgiving...a time for thanks for all that our great Lord has given us. With our world the way it is right now, we really need to give thanks for all the He has given us and the abilities we have because of Him. We had a great feast, and entertainment, as usual at our house...I fixed a pork loin stuffed w/ sauteed apples, craisins and pecans, wrapped up and seasoned. We also had a turkey breast...both the breast and the pork loin were smoked over a blend of hickory and cherry wood. On top of that, I injected a whole turkey and fried it. For sides, we had a homemade green bean casserole, cornbread dressing w/ gravy, candied yams, and a sundry of other food. For guests, we had Angie's mom and step-dad, John, and a co-worker over for the meal....and with our girls here...it was dinner w/ a show...never a dull moment. All in all, we all had a great time and best of all, the girls behaved most of the night!!!! So, once again, Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Whilry Gig Competition

Well, my partner and I, his nephew and my oldest, Kenzie, entered our second ever competition. It was a whole hog cook off at the Whirly Gig Festival on 1 Nov. We all had a great time and it was defiantly cold that night!! The hog looked great and tasted great, and the judges said so. But, we ended up coming in 10th out of 12 teams. But the good news is our scores were up almost 190 points from out last cookoff. And there was a little over 100 points different from us to 1st. And 2 out of the top three were 2 out of the top 3 for the state championship cookoff this year. So, there were some really good teams there. So, after it was all over, we had to chop the bbq, season and then it was sold for a fundraiser for the Elk club of Wilson. Then Kenzie and I stayed at the festival and had a great time just the two of us. We don't get a chance to do that too often.

Family Fun Nite

Well, here come Halloween!! The girls were sooo excited to get to dress up. Kenzie went as a Snow Princess and Kaylee went as an Angle (sometimes we have our doubts on that one!!!) Our church always has a Family Fun night to use as a witnessing tool for the community. It was a blast for all...Myself, I fried honey buns, Oreos and pickle chips for the Upward Soccer booth, to advertise our Upward soccer program that will kick off in the spring. The good Lord graced us with some great weather, and some cool temps. Crowd estimations were in the high 900's to around 1000 visitors...that was a great turn out.

Kenzie's Big Day

Well, Sunday before last was one that every parent wishes for their child...for them to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and that is exactly what Kenzie did!!! Angie and I are soooo proud of her. She has been inquiring about being Saved and she has been going to the children's program at our chuch "Kids of the Kingdom" where they do a great job for 1st -5th grades. They keep them engaged and excited about learning and serving our Lord. Well, after every service, just like adult chuch, they have their invitation for the kids and Kenzie felt the Holy Spirit flow over her and she went down and talk to Mr. Rob as we all call him. When she told us, we asked her if she wanted to talk to the preacher and she did, so we let her talk to Mr. Ray just to see and double check, but there was no need in that as she totaly understands what it means to become a Christian. So, we just now have to arrange a baptism day here shortly....so stay tuned!!!!

Fishers Of Men

Well, I went on our 5th Annual "Fishers of Men" fishing retreat from our church, Forest Hillst Baptist Church. We have been going down to Cape Hatteras NC all these years for fun and fellowship, and a little fishing. And when I say a little fishing, I mean, there are lots of hooks and bait in the water, but only a little fish are caught!!!! Me, I go to do the cooking, which is just fine w/ me because I always bring more to the table than the rest of them combined!!!! We range in numbers anywhere from 20-40, depending on the weekend. We all have a great time, eat some great food and do share the Sunday worship service w/ Cape Hatterat Baptist Church..they are some great folks down there and if you are vacationing, please visit them any Sunday... Anyway, we had a great time this past weekend, even though the weather was windy, rainy, and cool....So, here are some pics of them having fun....

Friday in early Fall

Well, today was a great afternoon....it was cool outside and the kids wanted to play on the trampoline. So, Ryan, Mathew and Macy from across the road and Kenzie ran to the trampoline. All had a great time, and even Macy knows what to do on it. Then they found the swingset...Kaylee is great at swinging herself at 3 1/2 years old!!! She loves to swing.

Catchin' Up!!!

Yea, I know, I know...more dead time between posts. Well, things have been a little busy here at the Cameron house. First off, since Kenzie's last birthday post, we have done a couple of things, and one of those was to go to Myrtle Beach, SC. It was a short family vacation to a condo resort that had it's own water park in the front, a nice swimming pool out back and then the ocean right beyond that...We call it the tri-fecta of free beach entertainment...well, as free as free is while paying for your hotel bill...The waster park was great, and just big enough to provide hours of entertainment for the girls and some relaxation for us parents...No, it's not the super large rides and such of Wet 'N Wild, but it was designed for kids and they all had a great time.

The pool was fun and the kids loved the ocean. We took their life jackets with them because I learned a long time ago, it's not sissyish to use them, they actually let you have fun with out worrying about staying afloat!!! This came in handy with the waves crashing in and on us.

We didn't do hardly anything but the water stuff, which was fine for us. We did find the Krispy Kreme donut store at midnight. That's a ritual I don't think we will ever outgrow...besides, that's when the "Hot Donuts" sign goes on and that's when they are their best. And we eat the leftovers (if there are any) for breakfast. The girls just love the hot donuts and some chocolate milk at midnight. I know, so much sugar so late at night!!! Hey, it's a vacation and they deserve it, along w/ us!!!!

On the way out of town, we stopped at Broadway at the Beach at http://www.clublibbylu.com/ to make over of the girls. Kenzie and Angie had heard about this joint, so we let the girls get all gussied up!! From the pictures, it looks like they had a great time!

So, when the family vacation, it was time for the big change in all of our lives....I had to deploy to Turkey with my Air Force Reserve unit for a tad over a month long. Now, I know this isn't as long as some do, but, for my family so far, it's the longest I have been gone for a single time. It was hard leaving them for that long, but I knew that we had a great network of both family and friends that would help Angie out with the kids. And that's exactly what happened. So thanks to all who helped with my family and all of the prayers for me and everyone else who is deployed. Anyway, Turkey was hot when we first got there...I mean highs for two weeks were anywhere from 110-120 degrees!!! That's hot, but luckily I ended up working nights..to where it got down to about 85 or so at night. That's sitll hot w/ the humidity at night..just plain sticky!!!!!! So, Turkey was Turkey...I don't think I left anything over there to go back and find, I'll tell you that right now... So, it is good to be back home and I am almost getting back in the swing of things, so hopefully I'll have more to add more frequently...Later ya'll...

"SAD BLOG"...

Is what I have been told ours has become....Well, things in the Cameron household have been a little busy here in the past month...Here are some things that have happened...

Kenzie graduated to the 3rd grade!!! She did real great this past year, although it is getting harder and harde to get her to read and do her homework. She also excelled in dance (tap & jazz) and had a great first soccer season. She is sooo looking foward to going soccer again, and she is going to be taking tap, jazz and ballet again in the fall.

Kaylee just has moved across the hall at Wee School, which made Angie so sad cause she is now on the big kid side of the hall. As they get older, they start moving closer to the main entrance, so it was a great milestone for her as well.

As soon as my mom and dad came back into town the first week of June, they took Kaylee to the beach and Kenzie went w/ Pappa and Mam Maw to their beach place. We then went and picked both of them up and went to my neighbor growing, up, Lee Howell, wedding in Morehead, NC. It was a beatuifull day and the girls had a great time. Angie and I couldn't stay too long b/c we had our own vacation to start!!!

Angie and I left on Sun, 15 June for Walt Disney World without the kids!!!! We stayed at The Pop Century Resort and it was a wonderfull place to stay. Although we didn't have our own kids, we still liked, or didn't mind being around others kids. And this place was full of kids. I had done alot, and I mean alot, of internet research on this place and all of Disney b/c I wanted to do some stuff that we normally wouldn't do w/ kids, and that's what we did. I'll try to do another post w/ a quick trip report and post some pics soon, but most of them are on my laptop right now and I have to download them. But needless to say, we had a blast just doing what we wanted to do, when we wanted to and if we changed our mind on a destination, we just changed our minds and went w/ the flow. We were down there for a week and it was hard to come home, but when the girls ran out to see us, it was great to be home.

Other than that, not much has gone on. Kenzie had a week of dance camp and our church had Bible school which was a huge sucess not only in getting the word of Christ out to kids, but they also raised alot of $$$$ for foriegn missions!!!!

My new truck

As most of you know, I along w/ my buddy Warren have a BBQ catering business called Partners in Swine BBQ Catering. Well, we finally have gotten busy enough to warrant me my own truck!!!! I had been looking one for a while when I drove through a car lot and there it was!!! A 2006 Z71, red, extended cab and low mileage...Just what I had been looking. Well, I traded the Honda for it and it is NICE!!!!! Here is it w/ the new business decals and personalized tag!!!

Ain't this tag just the coolest thing...I am sticking w/ the "Crime" theme....

More Soccer Pics

Here are some more soccer pics of last Sat....

As you can tell, the weather has gotten alot better!!!!

Kenzie's Dance Recital

This past Saturday, Kenzie had her year end dance recital. Let me tell you, this little girl can dance and shake her grove thang!!!! She was the cutest thing up there I tell you... Anyway, here are some pics of her dancing...

Update From "Gimpy"

Well, I went back to PT today and they finialy got me on the exercise bike...it took about 15 min of warming up on my knee and then about 5 min before I could totaly go all the way around, but I did it...so I guess that is a big milestone....So, my knee is getting better day by day, but the swelling is still up there and I am still having trouble sleeping because the knee wakes me up when I turn over in bed. But other than that, I guess my next milestone is to walk down steps, one foot at a time. Anyway, more later, Kevin

Busy and Down

Sorry it's been a while since I last did a post, but lots have been happing...first off, Kenzie and Kaylee have been growing like weeds the past few weeks. I think Kenzie has developed a bottomless pit for a stomach as she is always hungry when she gets home from school, and Kaylee is just eating all the time. And they do a pretty good idea job of eating healthly, or at least staying away from the really bad junch food.

Kenzie is still playing soccer and she is doing better each week and she wants to play again next year. She is also getting ready for her dance recital this coming weekend and that means longer practices and more weekly practices. She does love to dance.

And now to me...Last Mon (21 Apr) I went in for knee surgery...they did the orthoscopic deal to scrape some scar tissue out and then they had to do a latteral release on one of my knee tendons and that was a little more than we had hoped for. But that should let my knee cap stay in place and track better. Like I said, it has been a week and I am off of my crutches most of the time, but I still use one for support. The pain is now down to a dull pain for most of the time, unless I overdo it, which I am trying not to. Angie and the girls have been great in picking up the house hold chores and Angie, bless her heart, has just been there for everything for me while I can't do stuff. So, I don't know when I will be able to drive again, due to the flexibility part, b/c I can't even get my bad (right) knee close to the gas peddal...

So, I will keep ya'll updated on everything going on and I hope to have some pics here soon. Later ya'll...Kevin

Kenzie does soccer

Well, today was Kenzie's first soccer game. She is playing in an Upward Soccer league http://www.upward.org/ sponsored by our church, Forrest Hills Baptist Church. Upward is a Christian based sports arena that not only teaches sports, it teaches about Christ our Savior to the kids and parent. At half time, a 5 min devotional was presented to all who were at the field, kids and parents. So praise be to the Lord for another avenue to witness to the lost.

It was a cold, windy and ended up raining out some games, but Kenzie got lucky and her game was just cold and windy. Now when I say cold, it was about 48 deg this AM, after a high of 81 deg yesterday...quite a shocker for everone. Kenzie said she had a good time and the pictures look like it. She went after the ball and she even played on "defence" since they don't do a goalie. All in all, we think she had a good time, and by the way, her team won today and she got "the most effort" sticker award on her team.

Easter Time!!

Well, here are some pictures of our Easter. The weather was down right COLD!!!! It was a high of about 48 or so, but the day before it was 75!!! Well, you know what they say about NC weather...if you don't like it, just wait 24-48 hrs and it will change on you. Anyway, the Easter Bunny was good to the girls, again. So, they were munching out on the candy. Here are some pictures...

EASTER BUNNY!!!!

Here's a pic of the girls w/ the Easter Bunny. Kaylee was not the least bit scared, so that is a good thing. Now Kaylee says "The Easter bunny can bring me (insert toy)".

Kenzie had three teeth pulled at the dentist today. She was supposed to have seven, but she was a little aggitated and was getting realy squirmish, so they will pull the rest in a few weeks on spring break.

Found: Lost Tooth!!

Well, Kenzie finialy lost one of front top teeth today after school!!! She has been worried about that one for a while. And she has about 3 more loose right now. But, she is scheduled to go to the dentist to have about 7 pulled on Thurs!!! OUCH!!! So, we will post more on how that works out.

Howdy

Well, I guess you could blame my sister and brother in law on this...'cus I got hooked on reading about their (her) pregnacy w/ twins. It is so interesting to keep up on stuff about others with a medium like this. I hope to provide all of you with a couple of things..1st would be a lot of laughs, b/c that seems to be what I do best, whether on purpose or not, it just happens. Next is to share a little bit of our world with the rest of you. So, let's hang on for the ride, and no need for seat belts, it's always better to slide w/ the car around the turns!!! Thanks, Kevin
