Happy Thanksgiving!!

Well, we hope that all had a great Thanksgiving...a time for thanks for all that our great Lord has given us. With our world the way it is right now, we really need to give thanks for all the He has given us and the abilities we have because of Him. We had a great feast, and entertainment, as usual at our house...I fixed a pork loin stuffed w/ sauteed apples, craisins and pecans, wrapped up and seasoned. We also had a turkey breast...both the breast and the pork loin were smoked over a blend of hickory and cherry wood. On top of that, I injected a whole turkey and fried it. For sides, we had a homemade green bean casserole, cornbread dressing w/ gravy, candied yams, and a sundry of other food. For guests, we had Angie's mom and step-dad, John, and a co-worker over for the meal....and with our girls here...it was dinner w/ a show...never a dull moment. All in all, we all had a great time and best of all, the girls behaved most of the night!!!! So, once again, Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Whilry Gig Competition

Well, my partner and I, his nephew and my oldest, Kenzie, entered our second ever competition. It was a whole hog cook off at the Whirly Gig Festival on 1 Nov. We all had a great time and it was defiantly cold that night!! The hog looked great and tasted great, and the judges said so. But, we ended up coming in 10th out of 12 teams. But the good news is our scores were up almost 190 points from out last cookoff. And there was a little over 100 points different from us to 1st. And 2 out of the top three were 2 out of the top 3 for the state championship cookoff this year. So, there were some really good teams there. So, after it was all over, we had to chop the bbq, season and then it was sold for a fundraiser for the Elk club of Wilson. Then Kenzie and I stayed at the festival and had a great time just the two of us. We don't get a chance to do that too often.

Family Fun Nite

Well, here come Halloween!! The girls were sooo excited to get to dress up. Kenzie went as a Snow Princess and Kaylee went as an Angle (sometimes we have our doubts on that one!!!) Our church always has a Family Fun night to use as a witnessing tool for the community. It was a blast for all...Myself, I fried honey buns, Oreos and pickle chips for the Upward Soccer booth, to advertise our Upward soccer program that will kick off in the spring. The good Lord graced us with some great weather, and some cool temps. Crowd estimations were in the high 900's to around 1000 visitors...that was a great turn out.
